How To Run AppleJack

Ben Greiner -

All of the managed Macs in our Pro Support packages have AppleJack installed. Because running AppleJack is one of the few things we can not do remotely we've outlined the procedure below.

  1. Boot into Single-User Mode by holding down the 'Command' (⌘) and 'S' keys at startup.
  2. Once you see a black screen with white text and a prompt, type: "applejack auto restart" and hit return.
  3. Take a break for several minutes (typically 5-10) while your Mac runs maintenance then automatically restarts.

NOTE: It's only necessary to run AppleJack if we ask that you do so. If you really want to run it on your own, there's rarely a need to run it more than once a month.
