Recommended Laser and Inkjet Printers for Creative Professionals

Kris Youngsteadt -

Despite the dream of a "paperless office," nearly everyone continues to rely on an office printer. A good printer requires minimal setup and will deliver quick and easy printing for several years. However, purchase one that is not Mac friendly, or not meant to print graphic-intensive files, and you will waste hours of productivity and supplies, over several years, on the simple task of printing.

We've highlighted a few models that we know work from our experience with dozens of offices. However, it's always best to consult us before purchasing to ensure you get the most appropriate model for your needs. Although most links point to Amazon.com you may sometimes find better pricing at Newegg.com.

COLOR INKJET PRINTERS

Any of the Epson Professional Imaging printers are good. Which model you should purchase depends on your needs and budget.

RIPs we recommend based on individual requirements:

Desktop inkjet: Epson Stylus Photo R1900 Large Format Photo Printer ($450)
This printer is made by the consumer division of Epson. It will NOT last as long as the Professional Imaging models.
