Need to run Windows on a Mac? (No one really wants to! :) Maybe you need to run QuickBooks or test web designs in Windows. If so, then be sure to obtain the following:
- An Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later with at least 4GB of RAM (2GB will work, but we don't recommend it).
- Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 32-bit - $140
Do NOT purchase any of the Home editions as they have critical networking and backwards-compatibility features removed. Additionally we currently do not recommend the 64-bit version of Windows as a majority of business applications are still incompatible.
- Parallels Desktop 7 Mac - $69
VMware Fusion is also an option, but we prefer Parallels. they are both good products so pick your favorite (use the same product throughout your office for a smoother workflow). With each version they tend to “leap-frog” each other.
- Intuit Quickbooks Pro for Windows
Or avoid Windows altogether by using the QB Mac version (but it's terrible so try to avoid it). There’s also a QB Online version to consider.
